Economic Democracy panel at the Day of Progressive Economic Policy 2024 in Berlin

This is the theme I started with the analytical Democratic Economy platform for Ukraine (https://www.demeconomy.org/) and am developing now at FEPS with our project on Economic Democracy (https://feps-europe.eu/theme/economic-democracy).

On 20 March 2024, I moderated a panel on Economic Democracy at the Day of Progressive Economic Policy 2024 in Berlin, a major annual progressive social-democratic event in Germany and in Europe, organised by Friedrich Ebert Stiftung:

I believe economic democracy is the future of social democracy. It is needed both for economic fairness, but also for the salvation of democracy. It empowers people, gives them agency in the economic domain, and by that strengthens societal fabric and prevents extremist influences.

Participating in European Forum Alpbach

Over 27-30 August 2022 I took part in the European Forum Alpbach. We, myself and my friend Aksinya Samoylova, have won the preselection in the financial literacy hackathon, organised by MEGA Bildungsstiftung, and were invited to the final round at Alpbach Forum. Alpbach is a famous multidisciplinary conference in science, politics, business and culture, a progressive version of Davos :)

Our project was about conducting youth budget assembly, with a blend of teaching on public finances and practicing democratic participation, targeted at youth. Normally financial literacy is perceived as something individual - the ability to manage personal finances. We, however, took it to the next level - literacy about the public finances. Because decisions at this level have no smaller effect on each of us (and I would bet, much stronger effect) than individual decisions on spending and investment.

The experience at Alpbach was, however, much more than the hackathon. I met so many amazing people, got inspired by stimulating discussions on politics and economics, and just had amazing time.
